Snow Day!

Last year may have been an all time high post count, but so far this year is my worst start yet. I hope turn things around starting right here and now on this very festive Groundhog day! with a recount of last Friday's snow day.

Of course the big news around here last week was that we were supposed to get snow on Friday the 25th of January. Heading into Friday morning schools were already set to close 3 hours early, but mid-morning they actually moved up the release time by an hour because the storm was moving faster than originally predicted. Sure enough when we headed to the elementary school to get Clara at 11, flakes were already starting to fall. Unfortunately that was about all the snow we got. Despite the fact that temperatures on the ground were for once cooperative, the upper atmosphere wasn't and we mostly got a mixture of sleet and freezing rain for the rest of the afternoon. The kids went out in it initially but got cold quickly. On Saturday morning before things warmed up, we did get a chance to play out  in our pseudo-winter wonderland.

Meghan's first ice/snow experience.

Enjoying some delicious icicles.

Look at that ice piled high on the slide!

Makeshift snow angel.
