Jack's Stats

Jack is growing like the weeds in our front yard... tall and fast. He is weighing in at 16 lbs, 3 oz, a weight gain of about 2 1/2 lbs in 2 months. Like Clara he has now doubled his birth weight in just 4 months. She at this point outweighed him at a beefy 16 lbs, 15 oz. However Jack grew almost 4 inches in 2 months and is now measuring 27 inches!!! I am seriously impressed by this number. He has passed where Clara was in height at 4 months by an inch and a half. He's off the growth chart and out of 6 months clothes. Sheesh! The boy knows how to score some new outfits.

Jack is 4 months old!

My how time flies! Hard to believe that a mere 4 months ago Jack (or Jack Bo as we've been calling him) was born. He's getting so big and much more interesting. :) He's really blossomed into a little person this last month. He even discovered he had feet! No stats yet, we go to the pediatrician on Monday.

Feetsies!

And for comparison's sake... 4 months old

Sheesh, look at those thighs! (Alas the rug looks so clean)

Can you believe she was ever this little?

Bath Time

Bath time continues to be an immense source of fun for the whole family. First there's getting undressed... look out for Swammee!Jack.

Clara really likes to get in and "help" me. Brec happened upon this scene, as I had no idea of its hilarity, and felt a picture was in order. Apparently Clara had already begun readying for her own bath.

What a silly goose!

Jack is unfazed.

Live action frivolities.

Ahh the post-bath laid back Jack at his finest. (This picture really reminds me of his Uncle whose baby pics, I'm determined to post for comparison shots one of these days).

And once again Lady Godiva flees the scene of her own bath.

Playtime

I was trying to capture Clara putting her babies "to bed" but this ended up being an expose' of my ineffective parenting. Despite that fact, its pretty cute. ;)

Weekend Around the House

I'm glad to see everyone guessed correctly for the who's who pictures. Its kind of fun to set up similar pics and then compare. I'm actually surprised to see how big Jack is. He doesn't have the massively chubby legs that Clara did, but he looks as big in the belly. I can't wait to see his stats at his check-up next Monday!

This was the first weekend in awhile that we'd been home. We played a lot in the backyard. Jack watched Clara from his Bumbo seat. She was breaking in her new boots from Uncle Jack in Hawaii! Also Lula came over to draw on the patio with Clara.

We took a walk on Sunday morning enjoying a break in the heat and humidity, however short lived.

Jack also enjoyed some time chillin' either on our bed or in his crib. I was so happy to get the last picture because I have so few of him actually smiling. He always stops be-bopping and stares at the camera. I'd go so far as to say he looks a bit miffed in the second picture that I interrupted his chat with Allie.

Carson Cousins Come to Town

This past weekend we traveled to Richmond to meet up with some cousins on the Carson side of the family. Gramby's sister Bobby's daughter Alyssa and her three children, Jacob, Kara, and Carson, visiting from Texas, came over to Gramby and Su-su's house Saturday night for dinner. It was nice for Clara to reacquaint herself with her (2nd?) cousins having not seen them for a whole year. She and "Baby Carson" (as Clara called him) had a great time chasing after one another and climbing up and down the stairs. The moms got a rare treat at dinner as the kids sat with the grandpas. From the left Kara, Clara, Gramby, Carson, (Brec's uncle) Dave, and Jacob.

Emerald Isle 2009 8/2 to 8/9

Thanks to Pop-pop's insistence and Nay-nay's perseverance, we took a vacation to Emerald Isle last week. Memo and Aubrey as well as Lucy joined us with Nay-nay and Pop-pop for a fun-filled adventure.

Clara really had a blast. We were lucky to have a very nice tidal pool form everyday at high tide that was just her speed. She was even brave enough to go in the "big girl ocean" a few times. Also she had her first experience "crabbing" -- a ye olde Carrig-Blount family tradition of going out at dusk to chase fiddler crabs -- and flying a kite. Jack managed to get a little beach time in too. Mostly he enjoyed playing on his Baby Einstein gym, showing off his new grasping skillz, cuddling with aunt, grandparents, and great-grandparents, and modeling beach attire.

Clara enjoying the tidal pool.

Heading out into the "big girl ocean".

Taking a moment out of kite flying to model Nay-nay's beach accessories.

Queen of the mountain

Back at the cottage Einsteining

Never fear that Clara would miss some Einstein time.

Ready for the beach!

Hmm, not so sure about this sand.

Nothing better than a beach nap.

Jack doesn't want tan lines.

Modeling his appropriately beachy sleeper from Uncle Jack! Check out the sweet crab feetsies.

Cute beach hat.

Someone else want to wear the hat, imagine that.

Afternoon thunderstorm.

Clara took this opportunity to take the animals to the vet.

We had an awesome week. Back to reality!

Puss in Boots

Before we get to the beach post...

Prior to the beach VK, I took the kids up to Richmond to drop Sydney off for the week (or two) at Su-su and Gramby's who generously agreed to take her so that she wouldn't have to be boarded for the duration of our trip. Once again Clara was making Nay-nay's closet her playground, and she came out kickin' the boots. The girl has good taste in shoes!

Princess Dress

We had a bit of a rough morning today. So when we opened the closet to decide on an outfit, and Clara selected her princess dress, who was I to refuse? After getting it on, she immediately ran off to get her "princess shoes". I snapped a picture of the resultant outfit.

Working on the beach post now!

A Week in SoBo

I meant to post this before now, but I got a little behind due to vacation! Here's the last installment of our previous gallivant.

After returning from Williamsburg, we spent the night in Richmond and traveled to South Boston, VA on Tuesday to spend the rest of the week (7/21 - 7/24) with Memo & Auges. To make it an extra special visit, "Aunt Betts" was there as well.

Here's a quick shot in Richmond of Clara wearing yet another wedding gown.

Memo's closet is a veritable playground for Clara with all of her shoes.

And Aunt Betts bought Clara some of her very own high heels.

Jack enjoyed lots of attention as well.

One of Memo's trademarks with babies is to get them to "say little words". Here Clara joined in the fun.

Sydney enjoyed a little cuddle time with Baby Georg.
