Happy 4th of July!

We had a nice 4th of July weekend reunited as a family. The weather was quite beautiful compared to what came before and what we've had since. It started off high 80's on Saturday with low 90's on Sunday but with low humidity for both making them quite enjoyable. Saturday we participated in our neighborhood's parade led by a fire truck. It finished off at a local elementary school where the kids got ice cream and played on the playground. Sunday we went over to the Malls' for a cookout. All and all a very festive and fun holiday weekend.

Family Gathering

Also during our time in Richmond we had the opportunity to meet up with some of the Carson family visiting from the West, cousins Steven, Maureen, and Elizabeth Ruby Traylor in from Denver. The pictures aren't the greatest, but they're all we got. It was really great for Clara and Jack to get a chance to meet Elizabeth who will be 2 in November.

Richmond to Start the Summer!

The last ten days in June we spent vacationing in Richmond. We had a really nice time visiting with friends and family, and it was a really nice change of scenery. Here are some highlights or rather moments we managed to capture on film.

Delicious homemade raspberry-lemonade popsicles from Nay-nay.

Jack took a moment out of playing with the latch on the trunk to smile.

Relaxing in the morning in the living room furniture...

Licking the beater after Nay-nay made a cake.

Snuggling with Nay2

One of the days we went to Toys R Us and as a special treat from Nay-nay, Clara got to ride on the fire truck with Ernie.

We were able to take a trip to Ridgetop, our old summer league pool where the swimming all started.

Chillin' in the baby pool

The weather was pretty hot, but that didn't dissuade Jack from playing with the water table. He got creative and used it as a pool. He really enjoyed being outside unlike his sister who seemed to think that it was too hot.

24 Hours with Daddy

The first weekend in June, Su-su and Gramby celebrated their wedding anniversary with a trip to Nags Head. Brec took the kids down for an overnight while I regrettably stayed behind to watch Sydney. I tried to bear the sadness with great civility. Everyone managed to have some fun without me, though the conditions were not ideal for little children at the beach. The air was hot (mid-90's), the ocean was cold (high 50's), and the breeze was coming from the land (bugs galore). Here are some cute pictures snapped of their mini-break.

End of May

Here are some pictures from the end of May.

One last cuddle with the Boppy

Aftermath of a temper-tantrum: welcome to 3, the new terrible 2!

All the while the hurricane was happening next door, playing serenely in his room.

He loves to play in the washing machine.

We're Back Baby!

It's been far too long without an update, and for that I apologize. Extended Richmond vacation & total computer failure mixed in with some "not-being-able-to-get-off-the-couch" nights led to this long hiatus, but now we have our shiny new iMac up & running and are back in the blogging business. Over the next several days I will try to highlight the passed month, but without further ado here are some pictures from today and yesterday...

Don't let the adorable face fool you. Jack has recently mastered not the art of climbing but the art of climbing into precarious situations from which he is ill-equipped to extract himself. After rocking serenely in the chair, I found him with one leg perched on the arm of the rocking chair and the other on the top of the changing table.

This morning he also enjoyed playing in his bucket o' toys.

Today we had a nice change of pace with a visit from Memo & Aunt Betts! They traveled down from SoBo just in time for lunch. Afterward we made a trip to the farmer's market. By then it was nap time, but Clara was so excited, wanted to snuggle on the couch with Memo & Betty. As you can see, she relaxed and had a nap after all!
