A Soggy Halloween

Happy Halloween! Ours was a bit wet this year. It began raining early afternoon, and by 5:00 pm trick or treating time, it was pouring. We braved the weather. The kids were real troopers - Clara wasn't going to let anything stop her from getting all that candy and Jack kept saying, "ring the door bell with Clara".

Brec snapped a picture of me wielding the knife.

Still dry, Sleeping Beauty and her Pumpkin Prince

Meghan is "wicked cute" courtesy of Memo!

Jack was very wary of the candles in the pumpkins.

First house!

And... last house - a little wetter for the wear but not w/o full candy pumpkins!

Week with Nay-nay

Wednesday:
We headed home from the hospital.
Here is Jack getting ready to go to the Teets with Nay-nay.

First post-partum beer: Sam Octoberfest, delish!

Thursday:
We survived the first night at home - though not w/o excitement. A car crashed into a telephone pole across the street from us, breaking it in half, knocking out phone and internet until Saturday afternoon.

Clara got lots of snuggle time with Nay-nay and Meghan. You'll notice this picture repeated often during her stay.

Meghan & I had her first appointment at the pediatrician's. Here she is sleeping peacefully all wrapped up waiting for the doctor. She gained one ounce from her hospital discharge weight the day before of 8 lbs, 9 oz.

While we were at the doctor's, Nay-nay braved the park with the 2 kids + dog.

They had lots of fun and took turns being sent to "jail".

Afternoon coloring while Meghan was sleeping peacefully.

Friday:
Clara headed off to school in a new outfit from Nay-nay.

While she was away, we had some special visitors arrive to greet the newest member of the family, Memo & Aunt Betts! Clara was a proud big sister excited to see how Memo would like the new baby.

Tired and still without internet which meant no Thomas & Friends on Netflix, so they opted to snuggle with Nay.

Me & my baby!

Saturday:
Snoozing again

Outside watching Pop-pop over the fence, taking a break from gardening.

Sunday:
Nay-nay is getting a lesson on the iPad from Jack & Clara.

Headed out for a walk with Nay-nay and Pop-pop!

Pop-pop's turn to snuggle.

Monday:
One week old!
Headed out for the first time to go pick up Clara from school.

Afternoon cuddle. You know what that face means!!!

Tuesday:
Nay-nay's last day, waaaaaaaah. While we straightened the house in the morning, the kids played outside. Mid-morning they were hungry, and we decided brunch on the patio was in order.

It was a great week, and I'm so thankful to have had my mom's help during it and dad's over the weekend. :)

NC State Fair 2011

While Brec, Meghan, & I relaxed in the hospital, Nay-nay & Pop-pop embarked on their own adventure with Clara & Jack - the NC State Fair!

Ice cream time!

Jack really liked the ducks.

Clara rode the carousel with Nay-nay. She was a little nervous about the horse going up and down, but then once she got used to it, she enjoyed it.

Petting zoo.

Nay-nay and Pop-pop managed to find the one healthy item of food at the fair - apples cored and skinned which the kids loved and promptly devoured.

Have these kids had fun or what?

Hospital Stay & Homeward Bound

We survived the first night relatively unscathed on woke up on our first morning as parents of three!

Waking up on her very first morning.

Already back asleep enjoying a tasty finger.

Snuggling with Daddy while Mommy takes that first glorious post-partum shower.

Not so excited about being examined by the pediatrician.

And the visitors arrive! Clara is very excited once again to greet her baby sister.

Peacefully sleeping at the hospital unaware that we are headed home today!

Time for some new clothes.

What a sweetie pie.
