Katie & Company's Visit to Raleigh (August 19)

Sad as it was for us to leave the beach at the end of our week, we had a very special visit to look forward to on Sunday. Katie, Randy, Caleb, Adelina, & Levi were in town visiting the North Carolina contingent of their family, and no trip to North Cackalacky would complete without having a meal and a playdate with us! We planned a cookout and back yard fun. So true to our luck this summer (3 for 3 in fact), it rained. No problem. As you can see from the pictures, the kids still had tons of fun. Katie & I couldn't have been more thrilled with the way they seemed to get along despite it having been almost two years since last they met.

Back together again!

It was fun to watch Clara & Adelina get to know one another this trip. Clara was really excited to see Caleb, but I told her that Adelina was a big girl now and that she might enjoy playing with her as well as Caleb. Did she ever.

Clara & Caleb spent some quality time together as well.

Jack shows Levi the "Thomas the Tank Engine" book.

It was my first time meeting Levi, and Katie's first time seeing Meghan. Katie grabbed both the babes to recreate a "classic" picture:
Take 3,

Take 2,

Take 1!

Cookout moved inside - no one seemed to mind. Big kids at their own table. Jack for some reason wanted to stick with his usual chair.

Sam Summer for the Moms! Any facetime we get with one another is cause for celebration.

On the way out the door, Clara shows Adelina her cicada shell collection.

As always it was too short, but I'm so glad that it happened at all. Hopefully it can be repeated again soon, either here or in Boston. Here is Katie's take on the events at the Barnes family blog.
