Jack's Fourth Birthday

Once again, we have birthday weekends not just birthdays at our house. Early on Saturday morning on his last day as a three year old, Jack was helping me make biscuits. He loves to mix the dry ingredients together.

Later on in the afternoon Gramby & Su-su arrived. They were instrumental in providing me the distraction I needed to bake the cake without any little helpers in the kitchen. We decided to celebrate Jack's turning four with a cookout including two families we've gotten to know through almost daily park play after school.

The other special guests of the party were the resident baby bunnies.

Meghan looks like she's about the sing an aria. And you know she's got the pipes for it.

Birthday boy!

Clara and Rosalind.

Jack and his buddy Orson too busy in the sandbox to give the camera any notice.

Hot dogs on the grill.

Jack's friends, Orson and Emmy.

My two big kids.

My big boy blowing out the candles!!

Meghan patiently awaits her cake.

Jack getting a lot of help opening up his presents.

April 28th... the big four-year-old!

Morning snuggle with Gramby.

Unfortunately Jack had a rough night and was up much of it coughing. He didn't let it stop him from taking care of what mattered. Presents!

Jack opens one of his presents noticeably faster than last year!

Checking out his new pirate puzzle.

Later in the morning still not feeling great, Jack is camped out on the couch watching some TV with his sisters. Meghan is very excited by the idea of Super Why!

After a morning of rest and relaxation and perhaps revitalized by some French fries from the Village Deli, we brave the on again off again drizzle to get some backyard time.

Taking a break with some lemonade.

Meanwhile Clara sips her hot cocoa while reading on the deck with Daddy.

Jack tries out his new bulldozer, cement mixer, and dump truck in the sandbox.

Jack dances, i.e., get tossed around with Daddy, and Meghan moves to the beat all on her own.

Laid out after the birthday dance party.

Meghan takes a turn on Jack's new scooter.

After a supper of comfort foods hoping to inspire the birthday boy's appetite, the kids climbed into the tub to rinse off and warm up.

Three looking at the camera! It's a birthday miracle. Too bad they all look slightly disgruntled.

That's a little better, even if Clara did have to strangle Jack to get him to look away from the stream of water coming out of the facet.

Happy Birthday, Skeeker Jeekers!
