Clara's Sixth Birthday

After the party Saturday morning we spent most of the afternoon recovering. It would have been the perfect lazy day with the kids playing in the backyard, Mommy & Daddy reading/snoozing on the deck, but Meghan apparently didn't get the memo. She is bound and determined to destroy all of our beautiful wood hyacinths in the backyard by decapitation and I just can't let that stand. So much of our afternoon that should have been spent lounging was occupied playing chase with a pesky near 18 month old.

On Sunday rested and refreshed (Brec let me sleep in until 9!), we spent the day much the same as Saturday afternoon. The kids played in the backyard much of the morning. Then after a brief interlude in front of the TV while Meghan napped, we headed out into the Greenway for a walk and a stop at the park. It was really nice to get out there and enjoy the fact that spring has officially sprung down here.

If you merge these two pictures, you've got one with two kids smiling and looking at the camera.

Didn't have to photoshop anything to get one with both kids looking goofy/not at the camera.

I love Meghan's outfit.

I think she dumped sand on her head and was trying to take her shirt off, stalking away from the offensive sandbox.

Post-walk relaxation with Daddy on our floor.

Somehow all three are crowded around the computer up to no good.

After dinner playtime in the backyard turned into a game of chase Meghan. She kept grabbing the chalk and biting off the ends. The video was in hopes of catching her one-armed run for posterity. It totally cracks me up.

Chalky McGee.

April 15, Clara's sixth birthday! Birthday breakfast with little sister, blueberries, granola, & milk, a crowd favorite.

The big six-year-old on her birthday in her new dress (thanks, Lula!) on her way to school. And look what dropped out of the tree in the middle of the night and was kind enough to stick around until morning in our ivy... the flower pot balloon. It was a birthday miracle!

We were invited into Clara's classroom to celebrate her birthday with her friends at school. The strawberry shortcake was a success. Here she is enjoying some playing "raise your hand if you like the cake".

Dance party at school

After art class and a dinner of "big pasta", Happy Birthday part 3! commenced.

Opening her presents, I was a little worried because when she selected this package, she guessed that it was a new American girl doll. I was pleasantly surprised that when it wasn't, she wasn't disappointed  and that she said thank you. Our little girl is growing up!

Trying on her new dress right away, she takes after her Uncle Jack.

The Book About Me was a big hit!

Meghan looks on longingly.

Happy Birthday, Clara!
