While Gramby & Su-su were having the time of their life in Richmond with our wonderful children, Brec and I were Hawaii-bound for Uncle Jack & Dy's wedding! Here are some of the highlights of our trip. This post has been a long time coming and in an effort to finally get it published, I'm going to go with less is more. :)
Tuesday:
After 10 hours in the air, we have arrived and are having hors d'oeuvres on the veranda!

Wednesday:
Our first morning in Hawaii, sunrise view from our front deck.

View off of our roof deck.

After breakfast we hit the streets and toured Waikiki.
Playing around in the Banyan trees found all along the beach front parks.

Enjoying the beach as we head down to the shops.

The Duke Kahanamoku

Pop-pop checking out the purses!

Later on after lunch, everyone is ready to hit the beach.

Sherwoods Beach in Waimanalo
The gang is back together again. We're certainly bigger but not sure if you can say more mature.

Thursday:
On Thursday morning we opted to get a little exercise. One group headed to Koko Head to brave the hike up to the top, while some of us decided to do the walk up to the Makapu Light.
Koko Head crew before the ascent.

A view of the terrain. Basically the hike amount to stairs made from old railway ties.

Success!

View of Hanama bay from the top

It was windy at the top.

The other slightly less treacherous walk to Makapu Light

After the exercise we met up at Sandy's Beach to be confronted with crazy huge waves!

I opted to stay on the beach.

Then we piled in the van and took a drive up the Kamehameha Highway heading towards the North Shore. Of course on the way up, we had to stop and try on Chinaman's Hat!

Lucy pointing out one of the many mountain ranges she claimed were the "Lost" mountains. ;)

We went to two beaches on the North Shore. Here was the first that me, Brec, Betty, & Mom got to experience while Lucy, Dad, & Liz searched for a parking space. Unfortunately after driving around for 20+ min, their search was aborted and we packed up and went to another beach.

Parking was a success at Pupukea or Shark's Cove.

Friday:
Friday morning Nay-nay and Pat went out to run last minute errands before the rehearsal dinner later in the night.

Dad, Brec, Barklie, and I decided to try out snorkeling at Hanama Bay. This became the first of four! rejections before we finally made it in to snorkel. But this being only our first denial we weren't bothered and decided to show Barklie and Brec the Makapu Lighthouse.

Lucy & Pop-pop back at the house following their paddleboarding adventure.

Rehearsal dinner! at the Outrigger Canoe Club in Wakiki Beach. Here is the view from the venue.

Sunset looking out of the canoe club.

The happy couple - Jack and Dy enjoying a couple of Mai Tais.

Saturday:
Saturday morning we headed to Kailua after being denied by the Hanama Bay snorkeling Nazi yet again. Here is a shot of the beach.

We thought their beach attire was slightly suspect and couldn't resist snapping a picture.

Later on in the day we attended a beach BBQ at Kaimana Beach across from Kapiolani Park. We observed yet another gorgeous sunset.

Sunday:
Finally it's the big day! First in the morning we attended a traditional Vietnamese tea ceremony at Jack & Dy's place with the Carrigs and the Phungs.

Jack & Dy looking snazzy in their traditional attire.

And then the wedding was that night on a pier in Diamond Head.
View out on the pier where the immediate family got to stand.

Rest of the guests were fending off the high tide!

Proud parents looking sharp!

Jack and his best man Jay awaiting Dy's arrival

Exchanging the rings.

At the reception the newlyweds!

Enjoying the party

Cutting the cake

Tuesday:
And finally one last trip to another gorgeous beach front park - "Magic Island" right next to Ala Moana - on our last day in Honolulu.
