The Many Faces of Jack

Yesterday Jack went to the pediatrician for his 2 month wellness checkup. He's growing like a champ. Now he is 13 lbs, 6 oz, an increase of almost 3 lbs in 1 month! And he grew 1.25" so that he is now 23 1/4 in long. The doctor said everything looked good.

Clara's Big Girl Room Part Deux

Recently we've had some exciting changes around here. The day after my birthday Clara climbed out of the crib like it was the most fun thing in the world. As you can imagine, it was not the most fun thing in the world for me. This began a ten day stretch of no naps which led to some of the toughest times with Clara thus far. However thanks to the sage advice of many, I formed a battle plan to be enacted at home once we returned from Richmond. Saturday a week and a half ago, we set up the "big girl bed", and Monday with the help of the best $40 I ever spent, aka the baby gate, Clara took at nap in her big girl bed. Over the course of this week and last she has made the transition to the big girl bed and with all that extra sleep has returned to her old, angelic (heh) self.

Reading before bed.

Clara had a great time goofing off with Kierstin on her new big girl bed.

Relaxing Weekend

This past weekend was nice and relaxing. Here are two videos depicting some of our favorite activities around the house... building towers and "Daddy Chase Me". Jack is enjoying some time on the Einstein gym.

To Nay-nay and Pop-pop's We Go!

Last Thursday Brec and I took our first trip to Richmond since Jack's arrival to spend some quality time at Nay-nay and Pop-pop's. Brec took the train back Sunday, and I am heading home to Raleigh tomorrow. We've had a great trip with all kinds of adventures.

One of the highlights was experiencing some of Jack's first smiles. Here is a great video Nay-nay captured during tummy time on her bed.

He really seems to enjoy the bath

On Sunday night the Zimmermans came over for a cookout. Luke and Clara enjoyed playing with the Sesame Street garage. Look at that cooperation!

The life of the party

On Tuesday Carrie and Luke came over for a little backyard pool fun.

While his big sister had fun swimming, Jack enjoyed a nap in his Auntique's arms.

Clara-isms

Today in the car Clara said two cute things that I wanted to share...

On our way to Target I sometimes drive-thru at Chick-Fil-A to get a DDP (Diet Dr. Pepper to the layperson) from the fountain. Apparently I've done this more than a few times because today when I pulled into the line, Clara said, "Mommy, you want a Diet Dr. Pepper?"

The next came after our shopping at Target. I had loaded the kids into the car and climbed into the front seat. As I turned on the car, Clara said, "Its hot. Mommy, you want to turn on the ABC's?"

Here's a snap shot from Cinnamon toast this morning. I think she ate three or four pieces.

And then here's my two babies - one only slightly too big for the bouncy seat, can you guess who? :)
