I had delusions of doing a few real time posts, Meghan's birthday, hard to believe now a month ago, and Halloween, but somehow those never happened. So I thought I jump right back where I left off catching up rather than postpone indefinitely, and eventually we'll get to those events.
While Su-su and Gramby were holding down the fort in Raleigh, we were off on our adventure to Boston and Chatham on the Cape.
Thursday, May 29 - Fresh off the plane from Raleigh, we got our rental car and headed into the North End.

Stumbled upon the filming of the new Whitey Bulger movie starring Johnny Depp.
After our delightful sojourn into the city for dinner, we headed out to the shore.

Saturday, May 31 - After the wedding on Friday, Brec and I said our goodbyes and headed back into Cambridge Saturday afternoon to walk around MIT.
Some new campus "art" - a thinking man made of numbers.
Overlooking the Charles.
After a brief jaunt around MIT, we returned our rental car and met Katie at the airport and headed out to Melrose! Dinner courtesy of Bob's Foods.
Sunday, June 1 - Sunday morning the Barnes family were up and out early to go watch and support Katie running a half marathon. Brec and I headed back into Cambridge to eat breakfast at our old favorite S&S!.
After breakfast we strolled down Maple Ave to see our old house had brightened up quite a bit; the two giant pine trees in front had been cut down.
From Maple Ave we headed up to Harvard Square and walked around there a bit before heading down into the city to the Wharf.
I bought Clara an "American Girl History Mystery Under Copp's Hill" and had my picture snapped in front of the burial ground at Copp's Hill.
Walking around with Nay-nay, Pop-pop, Lucy, and Lee before their flight out back to Richmond.
The State House, we took pictures of all the clock towers for Jack.

We made it to the bottom entrance of the Public Gardens only to have George Washington photo bomb us.
Gorgeous spring flowers.
Skyline over the treetops.
We had seen this tree with these crazy flowers on the Cape but didn't know what it was. Thanks Public Garden for solving our mystery. It's a European horsechesnut tree.
We went from the Gardens to the South End where we ate lunch and then walked all the way over to Fenway and finally back to the Green line which we took back to Melrose after about an 8-mile walk over the city.
Brec cuddled up with the Barnes children, Caleb, Adelina, and Levi, on the couch and promptly took a nap.
I showed the kids some pictures on my phone, then we took a few pictures ourselves. Me with Adelina, and then with Adelina and Caleb.
Last but not least, we headed back to Raleigh on Tuesday morning and saw Jack Inscoe's doppelganger in the baggage claim.
What a great adventure. It was so nice being back in our favorite city for a few days.
