Emerald Isle 2012 (Aug. 11 - 18)

At last the long awaited beach post! We traveled to Emerald Isle, NC the second week in August to enjoy a family trip to the beach. This year was extra special because Jack was able to join us for the first time since Clara was an infant, and it was Dy's first experience with all of our family fun.

(8/11) Saturday afternoon following our arrival, Meghan crawls straight for the ocean...

Later in the kitchen sink getting a washdown.

(8/12) Sunday mid-day after being cooped up most of our first morning, the rain clears off and we head out on the beach. Uncle Jack shows Clara & Jack the ropes with respect to the ocean

(8/13) Meghan enjoys her dinner

Getting ready for the beach by assisting us with her diaper.

That's a "toot suit". Unfortunately an ill-timed poop sans swim diaper forced it out of commission for the day.

Relaxing on the beach with Memo & Augs

Another "toot suit", this one courtesy of Kori! (or "Quarry" as Clara pronounces it)

Thanks for the drinks, Pop-pop.

Nothing more fun than a beach chair that could topple over any second.

Happy First Anniversary to Jack & Dy!

(8/15) A lunch of delicious squash resulting in what Pop-pop would call "slop hemorrhage".

Refreshed after nap time and ready to hit the beach

A front or the apocalypse?

Jack & Pop-pop are unfazed.

(8/16) Nothing like Super Why! to get the day started off right.

(8/17) Last day on the beach. :( Don't stop 'til you get enough. And get things started off right, Uncle Jack does his Michael Jackson impression complete with music video mashup.
See the re-mixed version here.

It's a dirty job, but someone has to do it.

Dy survived her first family V-K!

Well maybe... back in Raleigh for a quick bite before plane ride to NYC.
