Summer Trip to SoBo (July 26 -27)

We traveled to South Boston to visit Memo & Augs the last weekend in July. Nay-nay and Pop-pop joined in on the fun a night early and the four of them hit the town, dining at the Bistro.

The kids had a wonderful time swimming at the Halifax Country Club pool.  It's really great thanks to the large section of 2 feet water. Meghan loves being able to stand and play.

Clara enjoys going off the diving board.

But swim to shore to give us a smile.

Jack tries out a noodle.

Daddy deep in pool-toy explanation.

Having fun getting tossed around by Pop-pop.

Jack was intrigued by watching the waves created by his hands smash against the side of the pool.

Uh-oh, watch out. A water shooting contest with Pop-pop is going to be tough to win.

And who can go to the pool without a trip to the snack bar for Klondikes?

Jack's willing to share.

Sunday morning it was coffee and tunes. Jack sings "It's a Hard Knock Light" and does all the instruments (and holds himself) part 1.

Part 2 of Jack's serenade.

Meghan brings the potty talk to "Let It Go" and Jack approves.

Second Summer Trip to Richmond, part 2 (7/19 - 7/22)

On Saturday night in Richmond, we had dinner at Su-Su & Gramby's house with the Traylors, our long, lost cousins visiting from Denver!

Clara and Elizabeth Ruby (or Lizzie as they actually call her) had fun dressing up in some of Su-su's finest.

And Jack and Henry had fun palling around together.

Apparently "Frozen" is common ground that can forge bonds instantly.

It was really fun to catch up with Stephen, Maureen, and the kids.

The next morning Meghan gets spruced up with Pop-pop.

Then on Tuesday we were treated to an invitation to Lee's river house. The kids had lots of fun paddling around in the water in life jackets and jumping off the dock.

Swimming around at Lee's river house.

Clara jumping off the dock.

Thanks to Lee for having us out to spend this lovely day on the Pamunkey.

Second Summer Trip to Richmond Part 1 - Slip N' Slide (7/17)

We headed back to Richmond for our second visit of the summer in mid-July. Uncle Jack & Dy had given the children a Slip N' Slide for their birthdays, so we thought what better place to try it out than Pop-pop's lush back yard lawn.

The kids were very intrigued by the set-up process.

Jack is ready for the splash pool.

Quick pic with Luc, for the calendar!

Everyone's first attempt at the slip n' slide.

Jack gives it a whirl.

Jack is still not quite there yet.

Jack makes it to the whammy pool with a little help from Lucy.

Meghan has a go at it.

Into the whammy pool for Meghan with Lucy's assistance.

Clara finally gets it.

Jack tries the Clara method.

Resting in the "whammy" pool.

Who knew the Slip N' Slide was such a learned skill?

Fourth of July & Weekend

Annnnnnd we're back! It has been ridiculously long since I updated, so we'll simply jump back into catch-up. Once again I'm two seasons behind, but I refused to be lapped by myself! I will persevere.

We last left off in the backblog entering July with Clara's first swim meet. The weekend that followed is one of our family faves, the Fourth of July celebration.

Jack up and at 'em on this holiday morning, showing off his patriotic PJ's.

Heading over to the elementary school to walk in the annual Fourth of July parade around the block.

After the parade we enjoyed some Kona Ice.

Then a weekend adventure with Daddy to Umstead Park on Saturday afternoon.

Meghan curling up in the doll cradle.

Sunday morning we took a trip to Banbury park and played a little soccer in honor of the World Cup.

Meghan plays hide & seek.

Later that afternoon we were treated to our very own backyard show - Swinging & singing
"Let It Go"

Excerpt from "Hard Knock Life"

followed by hula hoop dancing.
