To the Beach!

Second weekend in June we headed down to Wrightsville and met up with Gramby & Su-su for a day at the beach. We started off the adventure with lunch out on the pier at the Oceanic.

After lunch we changed clothes in Gramby & Su-su's room at the Blockade Runner and headed out to the beach. Meghan enjoyed her first taste of the beach, literally and figuratively.

Jack enjoyed mixing up some stew with the entire beach as his sandbox and unlimited water buckets.

Meghan actually went down for a nap.

Back up and ready for fun.

Nothing is more fun than pulling big brother's hair.

Meanwhile Clara had a wonderful time playing in the surf. It was really her first time venturing into the breakers without us.  She had a blast and met a few friends along the way.

After several hours of sand, surf, and sun, we headed back up to the Blockade Runner for dinner. While we waited for our food at the poolside restaurant, the kids took the opportunity to swim.

Enjoying our tasty spread and comfy dining table.

Great first beach trip of the season.

Welcome to the World, Henry Fairchild!

Henry (Hal) is two months old today! What a chunker. Finally a post about his arrival and our weekend in Richmond.

To start off our summer V-K, Thursday after Clara's last day of preschool all the way back in May, we traveled up to Richmond for a long weekend. One of the highlights was knowing that we would get to meet the newest member of the Schaeffer family.

Henry Fairchild Schaeffer was born the morning of May 18th at a whopping 8 lbs, 11 oz and 21 inches long with a full head of jet black hair.

With Mommy

With Daddy

With Nay-nay. We were able to visit Carrie the very afternoon he was born.

While Nay-nay and I were at the hospital, Clara and Jack were having fun at Deep Run Park with Gramby & Su-su.

Later in the weekend Pop-pop & Clara were also able to visit Hal. Clara was so excited to see the new baby. I was much more nervous about her holding someone else's baby than I ever was when she held Meghan. She was a natural though.

Back at the house the kids burned off some energy chasing Nay-nay around the yard.

Nay-nay must really love her grandkids because I'm sure I've never seen her lie down in the grass for anyone else. Busted!

The gorgeous spring weather allowed us to explore the newest addition to Camp Pop-pop Summer Session 2012 - "Elephant Water Fun Park"

If only they'd all look at the same time.

Fill 'er up!

Busted, somebody got sprayed.

Slidin' time.

Watching from the sidelines.

Nice and warm enjoying a snack

Later in the afternoon Clara learned to "weave" and helped Pop-pop mend his orange chairs.

On Sunday night while Carrie remained in the hospital for one more night with Hal, Seth brought Luke & Anna over to Nay-nay & Pop-pop's for a dinner date.

Big kids in the pool

Little kids at the water table

They all "rode" into the kitchen on the horse together. Closest we came to have them all look at the camera simultaneously.

Second gen, second wave.

Meghan Is Nine Months Old!

Hard to believe that nine months ago I was in the hospital with this little bundle of joy.
At the doctor's office today Meghan weighed in at 20 lbs, 3 oz, one more ounce than Jack and five shy of Clara at 9 months. She was 29 and one quarter inches long, besting the other two by a quarter of an inch.

Clara,

Jack,

and Meghan!

Stop, in the name of love.

I never really gave Jack and Clara this type of toy at this stage in their movement because they seemed entirely too dangerous. I thought surely they'd faceplant when the vehicle moved too far out in front of them. Meghan discovered them and has mastered them.

Today she made a new discovery, the kitchen drawers have stuff in them that can be thrown out.

I think she was mad there was not more stuff for her to throw out?
