Day Trip to the Beach

Three weekends ago (as evident by the glowing dates in the corners of the pictures) we took a day trip to Wrightsville beach with Su-su and Gramby. We were a little worried about the long drive there and back for a day trip, but it was well worth the fun the kids had. The sand bar was forming just as we arrived and continued to provide entertainment via a tidal pool throughout the afternoon. Definitely a success!

Memorial Day Weekend

Nay-nay and Pop-pop came down for a Memorial day visit, and we enjoyed lots of outside playtime.

Jack has been trying to master the big swings lately, and Clara is always ready to give him a push.

Naked lemonade drinking on the deck.

Pool time fun.

Then on Thursday of the following week, we celebrated my birthday! at the Mellow Mushroom. Here's a shot of Jack enjoying his chocolate milk in style.

New Beds

Memorial day weekend brought even more excitement than Nay-nay and Pop-pop's visit (if you can imagine). New bunk beds for Clara and Jack arrived and were set-up.

Excited to be sleeping on the top bunk.

She was a little nervous to be up there with no one below, so she begged for Jack to be allowed to move already. It has been a little rough to say the least. He doesn't seem to mind getting up for a little midnight trike-riding. The other night I guess he found the floor more appealing? :)

Saturday in the Park

This past Saturday we went downtown to the 2nd annual Cornhole festival! We enjoyed some delicious eats from the gourmet food trucks and taking in the sights.

"Watch this" the caption says it all.

Last Day of Preschool Performance

It's hard to believe, but today was Clara's last day of preschool. I can't believe my baby has already completed one full year! It was a very exciting day b/c the students put on an end-of-the-year performance. Her group has been working on it for months, and the past several days Clara has been walking around the house declaring how excited she is for the "performance". I've been hearing bits and pieces about it, picking out key words like "China", "dragon", and "broom dance", but today it finally all made sense. Here are a few pictures and clips of the show.

Jack and I waiting patiently for things to start.

The group as a Chinese dragon much like the ones seen in a Chinese New Year celebration.

All the parts of the dragon sleep except for Clara!

This Past Week...

Antics from the past week...

It's mulberry season around here, so the kids have been enjoying some delicious snacks every day on our walks. Of course things tend to get a bit messy. Here's a picture of how they end up looking afterward.

Mister Cool

One night before bed we busted out our musical instruments to form a family band. Jack was singing to his own beat, and I caught it on tape.

Happy Mother's Day!

We are back in business! To get the ball rolling with nothing too taxing for the followers, since it has been so very long, here's a quick video of the kids playing in a park today.
