Emerald Isle 2014 (Sat. - Tues.)

After a month of computer troubles and a week on V-K, we're back! And with part one of our beach trip ready as a peace offering for my abysmal blogging this summer since last we met, we were slogging through February. I'm hoping the tide is turning on the update front.

Saturday, August 9, we loaded our car in the pouring rain with the outdoor temperatures hovering around 67 deg and headed to Emerald Isle to spend the week there with Gramby & Su-su. Things were looking a bit grim crossing the sound onto Emerald Isle, but once we got to our cottage, the rain stopped. We made it out on the beach under cloudy skies, and the kids even got in a swim.

The super moon on Saturday night. Looks like daytime.

Sunday, August 10
First morning on the beach: up and at 'em and out on the beach before 0800. Jack and Meghan accompany us on Sydney's morning stroll.

Surf's up. Everyone is ready to hit the beach, this time properly attired in bathing suits.

Daddy enjoys French toast breakfast on the deck.

Su-su gets a snuggle before it's time to hit the beach.

Later on in the morning, enjoying the waves as the tide goes out.

Meghan stays and plays on the beach while the others swim.

She has lots of fun playing with Jack's Water Pipes.

Clara pauses for a quick photo while retrieving her goggles from the shore.

Yes, you called?

And they're off again.

Evening cuddle with Gramby and a Daniel Tiger book.

Oops, at least we know the sun screen is working where it was actually applied.

Monday, August 11
We broke out the hats with the hope of finding something that might protect Jack's raccoon eyes burn from the day before. Of course Meghan wanted a hat too.

We put the afternoon wind to good use as Clara flies the kite.

Waiting for dinner Daddy offers a little Harry Potter.

Still making sun protection a priority, even as bedtime approaches.

Tuesday, August 12
Clara's riding the waves in with her inner tube

Meanwhile these two beach bums enjoy a morning snack of the catch of the day, goldfish.

Meghan buried her feet.

And promptly takes a nap from the strenuous activity.

Meghan's turn to go out in the ocean with her inner tube.

Clara and Jack race back to the shore.

Dinner time - delicious big pasta hits the spot after playing on the beach all day.

  1. At last! Good first half-week coverage. I'd forgotten how windy it was.
