Never Thought I'd See the Day...

...that Clara's nose would be healed. For 21 long months we despaired of ever seeing it wound-free. Then after hitting rock bottom one night (which consisted of discovering a "picture" painted in blood on the shutters above Clara's bed), we began the long, slow road to recovery. Here is our journey in pictures...

Stone Soup

Last Wednesday Clara's preschool had a "Stone Soup" celebration. Everyone brought in different ingredients to contribute to the soup, and the parents enjoyed a beautiful Thanksgiving dance.

Septiembre

Between the beach trip and Nay-nay's birthday we've covered much of September, but before we move on to October, here are a few snapshots from everyday moments in September...

So nice to see teamwork.

18 month checkup & bath time

Little Jeekers had his 18 month wellness visit Thursday. He is weighing in at a whopping 26 lbs, 4 oz and is 33 1/2 inches tall. Clara was only 24 lbs, 11 oz and 33 inches tall at 18 months.

Clara at the same age.

And now for tonight... (just to prove that I don't have to have a 1 month lagtime between actual events and resultant post)

Jeekers in his new dipe-dipe!

Fun in the tub before big sister climbs in and takes up all the space.

And Jeekbo out of the blue has learned to blow bubbles. I turned around, and there he was with his face in the water not drowning! I think Clara only learned this skill sometime last year. Way to go second child.

After bath time tonight it was "fun with hair styles". Clara thought Jack spikes were hilarious. Jack was too focused on brushing his teeth (his new favorite pastime) to smile for the camera.

Happy Birthday Nay2Nay!

Part I of our series dubbed "catching up because apparently it's November not September"...

Last weekend of September we traveled to SoBoVa to celebrate Nay-nay's 60th birthday. Clara was very excited not only to see her (great-) grandparents & Aunt Betts but because she knew the occasion would call for cake!

We started off with a trip to downtown South Boston to check out the fall festival followed by a delicious O Sole' Mio's lunch!

After nap time we busted out the pool for what turned out to be our last really hot day of the season. Of course no trip to Memo's is complete without a visit to her make-up drawer for quick makeover!

Clara splashing around in the pool.

Taking a brief rest.

Once Jack woke up, he didn't waste any time wrecking shop in Augs' garden.

Checking out the vegetation.

Next was his turn to make a splash.

All done and naked!

Sisters!

Cheers to the birthday lady.

Stuffed with delicious birthday cake, cuddling with b-day Nay-nay.

Sunday morning we went to the neighborhood park.

Jack's Graceland... a giant piece of spinning equipment.

The nice thing about small towns with budgets smaller than big city parks and recreation depts. is that there remain some old classic pieces of playground equipment. I am positive this is the same slide that I played on at this park when I was a child and Nay-nay had the same feeling as well. We all took a turn on it because really when do you see a slide like this anymore?

Sliding with Nay-nay & sliding with Pop-pop - you decide who looks more fun.

Lastly rounding up the weekend with some snuggle time with Memo. He loves the glasses, rings, and necklaces.

Another day, another make-over.

Happy Birthday Nay-nay! Here's the next 60. :)
