Back to September! The second weekend after Labor day Gramby & Su-su paid us a visit. It was a busy Saturday in downtown Raleigh. There was Bug Fest going on at the Natural History Museum while Fayetteville St was packed with creative types for the Triangle's 4th annual SparkCon. Arts Together was helping out with the kids activities for the latter, so we swung by to participate.
The kids worked on constructing and painting tambourines & puffy hats with their AT art teacher, Ms. Renee.
Finished creations!
Meanwhile baby loose in the streets of Raleigh (never fear, the street was actually closed).
Jack and Grambles check out the street vents.
Moving on to the Bug Fest...
Madagascar hissing cockroach, yikes! You better believe I did not let that thing crawl on me.
Cricket
Praying mantis
Tarantula!
The next morning Clara and I headed to Apex to celebrate Kierstin's fifth birthday with a little gemstone panning at Blue Diamond Gemz. Each child was given a bag of dirt from the mines of Western North Carolina to clean... any gemstones found were theirs to keep! Clara had lots of fun and found all different kinds including garnets, sapphire/ruby, and amethyst.
Back at the ranch Meghan plays blocks with Grambles.
Su-su is in charge of watching me, so look what I'm doing.
