It has been a red letter week here in our house, two big milestones: Jack's first day of preschool and Clara's first day of kindergarten.
Monday Jack and I went to his transition day, half of a normal preschool day with me there at his side. Here he is on the way out, very excited about his new bag.
Clara was thrilled for him to be going to her old school.
Transition day was a little rocky, but surprisingly enough he did let me trace his body in art class, something his big sister didn't ever allow at school.
Today was his first day all by himself. He was also the special helper which meant he got to bring snack and show-and-tell. As you can see from the picture Brec took on the car ride over, he was a little apprehensive, but he did great. No one called me to come pick him up early, so I say it was a success. I think each time he goes, he will become more comfortable there.
The other major milestone of our household, perhaps one of the biggest, was that today Clara attended her first day of kindergarten. Around here school started on Monday, but the kindergarteners go one full day out of the first week for "staggered entry". The classes are assigned at the end of the week, and on Tuesday she goes for good. She was very excited to go and upon pick up, when I asked her if she liked it, she responded that she loved it. You can't ask for much better than that.
After pick-up we hit one of our old stomping grounds, "the little park with the little house with the tree" aka the church park. We haven't been there pretty much all summer, and it was definitely our first trip there since Meghan became highly mobile. She had a blast. It's a great park for all ages but especially for little kids. By the end of our visit, she was climbing up half the bend of the twisty slide. Little Miss Daredevil.
After all the stress and worry leading up to today, I'm glad it's over, thankful it went so well, and a little relieved we have until after Labor day before we have to do it all again. :)
Awwwwww.....!
