Here (We) Come(s) Santa Claus

On Christmas Adam we decided to make the age old journey to visit the Legendary Santa, now at housed at the Richmond Science Museum. Clara was incredibly excited to go see Santa and let him know that she wanted Cranky and Mavis, two characters from Thomas and friends, for Christmas. Jack was not quite sure what was going on and was fine while we waited in the lobby, but once we got into the room with Santa, he wanted to be anywhere else but there. Honestly it was more the room than anything else that frightened him, and he just wanted outta there.

We opted for the morning bath to get everyone squeaky clean.

Meghan was less than thrilled by the prospect of meeting the big man in red. She was, at least, looking very festive.

Jack was all decked out compliments of Nay-nay, but much to everyone's dismay, he very much disliked (understatement) his saddle shoes and collapsed in a heap trying to remove them. We opted to forgo them in hopes of at least getting him to Santa before the tears began.

To add to Clara's euphoria, she was wearing a new dress and shiny black shoes for the occasion.

At the waiting area all seems well. Jack is smiling!

And Meghan is still asleep!

Meghan snuggling with Tati.

Carrie and not-so-baby-anymore Anna

Now in the room with Santa, the excitement has reached fever pitch. Clara and Luke pose with the teddy bear soldiers.

Luke sports his monster face.

Not sure the "nice" faces are much better.

The time is nigh, first we visit with the snow queen. By this point Jack is near hysterics and out of line with Pop-pop.

At the last second Jack crosses the stage to get to me, so there's our picture with all three children and Santa.

Santa!

Luke asks for a skeleton for Christmas. Have fun with that one, Santa!

Phew, we made it, and... Meghan is back asleep.

And both Jack and Baby Anna have recovered from the terrifying ordeal.

Later on at home, Meghan naps on her Memo after the day's petty exertions.

Awake to pose for a picture with Pop-pop!

But very quickly back asleep to round out the day. :) Happy Christmas Adam!

Meghan's Two Month Stats On Her 3 Month B-day

As with the way everything is around here these days, I'm finally posting about Meghan's 2 mo stats on her 3 mo birthday! Here she is today...

And her siblings on their respective 3 month birthdays...

On December 21st (Daddy's 34th! birthday) we went to the pediatrician for Meghan's 2 month well visit. She was 13 lbs, 3 oz (compared to Jack's 13 lbs, 6 oz & Clara's 14+) and 24 1/4 inches. She gained a couple of pounds and grew over an inch in one month!

Jack Reads Pride & Prejudice

This one is for Alex... (sorry for the slightly disastrous recording)

Explanation:

Alex gave to Meghan a fabulous book called "Little Miss Austen: Pride & Prejudice". Jack picked it up yesterday and began "reading" it by recalling the numbers and deciphering the pictures.

The book actually says,
"1 English village, 2 rich gentlemen, 3 houses, 4 marriage proposals, 5 sisters, 6 horses, 7 soldiers in uniform, 8 musicians, 9 fancy ball gowns, 10, 000 pounds a year"

Jack was saying,
"1 house, 2 hats, 3 houses, 4 hearts, 5 sisters, (6) 9 horses, 7 sisters, 8 ?, 9 dresses, and 10 credit cards"!

Days Leading Up To Christmas

In the week leading up to Christmas, excitement reached fever pitch around our house. Jack really took everything up a notch, from caroling...

to counting (Jack counts from 1 to 20-hundred!)

and even at the park.

The kids had so much fun taking Christmas pictures after the fact that whenever they were snuggling, they demanded their picture be taken.

Enjoying their last few days with their 33 year old Dad. ;)

The kids, ever since Meghan was born and they watched Pop-pop doing some yard work on the other side of the fence, have enjoyed watching the cars go by. They invented the color game and shout out when they see their assigned car color. Lately they both seem to default to red.

Christmas Outtakes 2011

I always chuckle at my attempts to get a cute Christmas picture of the kids, and this year throwing a newborn thrown into mix didn't make things any easier. Here are the fruits of my labors.

Very first attempt was the night after we put up the tree. Dressed everyone in their Christmas PJ finest, even fixed Clara's hair, and for whatever reason Jack ran away from the camera crying.

Next "photo op" began with Clara's wish to hold Meghan. I told Jack to join them on the couch and began snapping pictures despite the obvious lack of cute Christmas attire (or any clothes in some cases). Clara always puts on a great smile when she holds Meghan. She's such a proud big sister.

After the several pictures of Jack staring anywhere but at the camera, I told him to look at the green light, and so he opted to point as well as look.

Good one of Jack, but this time the girls are messing it up. C'mon Meghan, look at the camera!

Clara pulling a "Memo"

Now for a different angle. Everyone's looking, but Jack's face is kind of crazy... reminds me on another Jack I know. Through it all, Clara remains on task smiling!

And now that Jack finally is looking, Clara isn't, & Meghan's crying.

And Jack has left the building.

Next attempt - another impromptu affair that began by taking shots of Meghan enjoying some fresh air in her new, pink bunting.

These pictures are much less disastrous than the previous group, but it's harder to see Meghan. And in the really good ones of the older two, Meghan is crying. Alas...

A cute one of the whole family sans me in Christmas PJ's but Meghan isn't looking at the camera, and Jack is blocking Sydney.

Close runner up...

And the winner is...

Pumpkin socks, Supergirl dress, Boppy (aka Moon pillow), and all! Merry Christmas 2011!

Decorating the Christmas Tree

Sadly on the day we are taking down our Christmas tree, I'm finally posting about putting it up the first weekend in December. Nevertheless, decorating the Christmas tree and the rest of the house this year was an exciting affair. Clara has definitely reached that magical age where she remembered how awesome Christmas day was last year and was eagerly anticipating it this year. Her excitement was infectious and had Jack running up and down the halls singing, "wish you a merry Christmas and a happy new year". This put a new spin on all of our pre-Christmas activities.

Anxiously awaiting Mommy unpacking the first ornaments (notice the Grinch shirt from Auntique!)

Here goes - "first one to put an ornament on the tree"

Jack joins the fun

A smile that in hindsight can only mean, "just wait to see how much trouble I'm going to cause with the tree this year".

Enjoying the view

Our first present under the tree!
