Happy Thanksgiving!

First things first... let me just say thanks to Robin aka Momola for her first comment on the blog. You know I love 'em!

For the Thanksgiving holiday we traveled over the river and through lots of woods to get to grandmothers' houses. We had Thanksgiving dinner with the Carsons & extended family.

Clara ate some turkey but really enjoyed the fresh baked rolls!

Jack had some festive sweet potatoes with the family.

During the meal Jack found Sydney sitting in the corner to be particularly hilarious. I guess he couldn't believe how good she was being.

Clara enjoyed taking a bath in Susu & Gramby's giant tub and afterward being wrapped up like a princess.

Jack turned 7 months old over the holiday and hit several milestones. He got into a sitting position all on his own and began rocking on his knees. He might have made a crawling motion forward, but mostly he scoots himself backwards.

Weekly (Monthly?) Wrap-Up II

Before I get to the Thanksgiving holiday, here are some moments from the weeks (11/1 - 11/19) since the previous "weekly" wrap-up...

Jack continues to enjoy eating which has been a pleasant experience for me since Clara hated everything I gave her.

I love sweet potatoes!

Playing with his spoon post-green beans, check out the happy feet.

Sweetie pie

In the car some time ago Jack was fussing and Clara started to sing "Old King Cole". Immediately Jack turned his attention to her and began smiling. I point this out to her and said how great it was that she had made him happy. Now any time he's squawking, be it happy or sad, she breaks into "Old King Cole". Here it is finally recorded for posterity.

Clara continues to sing numbers from the Sound of Music. A little "Do Re Mi" whilst hanging out in Jackbo's room makes the afternoon brighter.

Finally having deemed Jack's tummy coordination steady enough for hard wood, I brought him into Clara's room to play. It was a whole new world for him. Here he is checking out the toy bins just waiting to be emptied.

Clara thought he might like some pear.

On the Swings

Today at the playground there was a shortage of swings, so Clara decided she's like to share with Jackbo. They both really seemed to enjoy it. Clara only started to ask for Jackbo's turn to be all done when she realized that he was the reason they weren't going quite as high as before.

Fun at Cary Towne Centre

During the deluge of last week we struggled to occupy our time without access to the outdoors. One day we met Alison and Kierstin at the mall. After some shopping the kids got to go on the Carousel. It was Clara's first time and she was very excited. Then the girls had fun playing with the rental shopping carts. The fact that they were chained up didn't stop them from having fun. Meanwhile Jack had a good time chewing on Clara's rain jacket. ;)

Jack's 6 Months Stats

Sorry I didn't posted this sooner... at Jack's 6th month wellness visit, he weighed in at 18 lbs, 5 oz and was 27 1/2 inches long. He's still a tad behind Clara's 18 lbs, 11 oz, but he is as long as she was. He did gain more between 4 and 6 months than she did.

Jack's First Taste of Food

On the first of November we gave Jack his first taste of solid, albeit pureed, food. He has taken to it more readily than his sister did.

So far he's enjoyed peaches, sweet potatoes, pears, and summer squash. I think he likes the veggies better than the fruit! Here he is post-sweet potatoes.

Trick or Treat!

We had a really nice weekend with Nay-nay and Pop-pop visiting and a special Halloween edition blog post.

Clara dressed up as Cinderella and Jack went as a Jack-O-Lantern. As you can see, it would have been nice to have one picture with anybody looking at the camera. Argh!

Off to trick-or-treat. Still no one looking at the camera.

Since they can't be captured with still images alone, here's a video of Clara's full costume regalia. ;)
